The Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport has hit high on a customer satisfaction study this year. A J.D. Power and Associates study shows the airport tied for 2nd place among 20 large airports around the country. Two years ago it came in dead last on the same study.
The 2010 North America Airport Satisfaction Study looks at individual areas that add to the overall airport experience. These aspects include airport accessibility, baggage claim, check-in process, baggage check, terminal facilities, security check, and food and retail services.
The top ranking airport in the country was Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. Tied with Minneapolis-St. Paul for second place was Denver.
Denver and Minneapolis-St. Paul both received 701 points out of a possible 1000 points, Detroit received 705 points. The average points for the airport group were 665.
So what has changed in the last 2 years? That is the curious part. Not much. There has been some new carpet, an addition of a quiet seating area and a system allowing hearing-impaired individuals to be paged. Perhaps the judging was subjective, or perhaps the quality of the other airports has declined.
Whatever the reason for the high ranking, the Twin Cities area has an airport to be proud of. Have you flown out of it recently? How would you rank it?
